Stuff to do

Adopting from China is always hurry up and wait. The paperchase is a whirlwind of activity for 3 or 4 months. Then you wait and wait and wait.....There are some updates to do along the way but mostly just waiting. Now that we have our referral it is back to hurry up. We now have stuff to buy and forms to fill out. I think it is better to be busy than not, makes the time go by faster.

We started our to dos this week by applying for our travel visas. Interestingly there was an article in the local paper today that China is limiting some types of visas due to the Olympic protests. It doesn't look like it will affect us though as they are only limiting multiple entry visas, we are only requesting single entry.

We also put together and sent a care package to Grace. Unfortunately we heard from another parent who recently traveled to Yifeng SWI that her care package did not arrive. No way to know if she will actually get it but we really hope she does. In the care package we included an album with pictures of us and our families, a stuffed spotted kitty, a panda rattle, a disposable camera, a soft blanket, a list of questions and some candy for the nannies.

Awww...how sweet! Yes, after all that waiting, the next six weeks will fly because you will be very busy shopping and packing. And repacking. And weighing the suitcases and then repacking again! (P.S. I have a pretty detailed packing list if you want it - with notes on what I used and didn't use, etc., so let me know if you want a copy! I already sent it to Carrie!!!). And you will probably be even busier shopping than me...I was able to reuse a bunch of my older daughter's clothes and equipment for the house, so I just needed to prep for the trip.

I can't wait to follow your trip. We went to Jiangxi too, so hopefully you'll get to see the Teng pavilion in Nanchang, get to visit a farming village, etc. like we did. Sigh...I can't wait to go back (not for another baby, two is enough for us, but already thinking about a return trip in a few years). We all (including the 8 year old) can't wait to go again! You're gonna have a great time!

We just got back from China. Our baby was from Yifeng. We sent a care package. It got there with no problem. We enclosed two cameras, which we got back. Another family in our group with a baby from Yifeng also got their cameras back. No doubt they do make it there!!

Congratulations on your new daughter. She is beautiful. We are also a Yifeng family. We brought our Claire home in November 2006.
