Sunday Snapshot

For the past 12 weeks I have been taking a photography class at our local college.  It was a bit more work than I expected but at the end of it I think I can call myself a better photographer.  Our final project for the class was an environmental portrait.  For this project we were supposed to tell something about the subject by relating them to their environment.

For this portrait we went to the Yin Yu Tang house at the Peabody Essex Museum.  I wanted to put Grace in a Chinese environment for the portrait and the Yin Yu Tang house was perfect for this project.  It is a late Qing dynasty merchant house that was originally located in Anhui China.  The house has been  removed from China and re-erected at the Peabody Essex museum.

I took a bunch of shots for this project but this one had the most feeling to it.

That's awesome! We visited the house at PEM BEFORE we went to China - in fact, I took pics of Emma there and included them in our dossier. I just started a four week online photog course. I have had my DSLR for two years and still have so much to learn.
